A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozy

[Verse 1]

My baby want a Birkin, she's been tellin' me all night long

Gasoline and groceries, the list goes on and on

This nine-to-five ain't workin', why the hell do I work so hard?

I can't worry 'bout my problems, I can't take 'em when I'm gone, uh

[Pre-Chorus]

One, here comes the two to the three to the four

Tell 'em "Bring another round," we need plenty more

Two-steppin' on the table, she don't need a dance floor

Oh my, good Lord

[Chorus]

Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey

They know me and Jack Daniеl's got a history

There's a party downtown near 5th Street

Evеrybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

[Post-Chorus]

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

[Verse 2]

I've been Boozey since I left

I ain't changin' for a check

Tell my ma I ain't forget (Oh, Lord), I

Woke up drunk at 10 a.m.

We gon' do this shit again

Tell your girl to bring a friend, oh, Lord

[Pre-Chorus]

One, here comes the two to the three to the four

Tell 'em "Bring another round," we need plenty more

Two-steppin' on the table, she don't need a dance floor

Oh my, good Lord

[Chorus]

Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey (Double shot of whiskey)

They know me and Jack Daniel's got a history (We go way back)

There's a party downtown near 5th Street

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

[Post-Chorus]

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy (At the bar gettin' tipsy)

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

[Bridge]

One, here comes the two to the three to the four

When it's last call and they kick us out the door

It's gettin' kind of late, but the ladies want some more

Oh my, good Lord (Tell 'em drinks on me)

[Chorus]

Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey (Double shot of whiskey)

They know me and Jack Daniel's got a history (Way back)

There's a party downtown near 5th Street (Come on)

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy (Woo-ooh)

Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey (Double shot of whiskey)

They know me and Jack Daniel's got a history (It's Jack D)

At the bottom of a bottle, don't miss me (Baby, don't miss me)

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy (At the bar gettin' tipsy)

[Post-Chorus]

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy

[Outro]

That's fuckin' messed up, bro, they kicked me out the bar

About the Song: A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozy

A Bar Song (Tipsy) is a country song by Shaboozy released as his fourth single under his album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going. This song interpolates (replayed sample) the song “Tipsy” by J-Kwon. A Bar Song (Tipsy) is about frustrations in a job and going to bars to drink as a way to release the frustration.

Verse 1

The singer/narrator is expressing his salary not being enough anymore to cover his expenses and his girlfriend’s demands. His girlfriend is demanding a very expensive bag, the Hermès Birkin. The narrator is getting tired of his 9-to-5 job but is putting all his worries behind for now since he claims that he can’t take it with him once he’s gone.

Verse 2

The singer is saying that he’s still his old self and remains connected to his heritage despite being where he is now. He also says that he woke up still drunk the morning after drinking all night, but he will do it again and implies that he wants to “have fun” with other women.

Pre-Chorus

The singer is now starting to have fun at the bar. The drinks are coming and he’s still asking for more since he claims that they will have fun. He is also watching other people get drunk in the bar, particularly, the women dancing on the tables.

The first line of the Pre-Chorus “One, here comes the two to the three to the four” is a reference to the song “Tipsy” by J-Kwon.

Chorus

The singer is asking for shots of strong drinks, particularly Jack Daniels, a famous brand of whiskey. He also implies that he is an alcoholic for having “a history” with Jack Daniels, meaning that he always drinks it. He says that everyone (implying that himself included) is getting tipsy.

5th Street (Fifth + Broadway) was referenced, a place in Nashville famous for restaurants and bars.

Outro

The narrator is frustrated about being kicked out of the bar. It may be because he can no longer pay for his drinks, especially since he can no longer afford today’s prices (mentioning earlier that he can’t pay for groceries, gas, or even his girlfriend’s wants).
