That’s So True by Gracie Abrams Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I could go and read your mind
Think about your dumb face all the time
Living in your glass house, I'm outside, uh
Looking into big blue eyes
Did it just to hurt me, make me cry
Smiling through it all, yeah, that's my life
[Pre-Chorus]
You're an idiot, now I'm sure
Now I'm positive, I should go and warn her
[Chorus]
Ooh, bet you're thinking, "She's so cool"
Kicking back on your couch, making eyes from across the room
Wait, I think I've been there too, ooh
[Verse 2]
What'd she do to get you off? (Uh-huh)
Taking down her hair like, oh my God
Taking off your shirt, I did that once
Or twice, uh
No, I know, I know I'll fuck off (Uh-huh)
But I think I like her, she's so fun
Wait, I think I hate her, I'm not that evolved
[Pre-Chorus]
I'm sorry she's missing it, sad, sad boy
Not my business, but I had to warn ya
[Chorus]
Ooh, bet you're thinking, "She's so cool"
Kicking back on your couch, making eyes from across the room
Wait, I think I've been there too, ooh
Ooh, you've got me thinking, "She's so cool"
But I know what I know and you're just another dude
Ooh, that's so true, ooh
[Bridge]
Made it out alive, but I think I lost it
Said that I was fine, said it from the coffin
Remember how I died when you started walking?
That's my life, that's my life
I'll put up a fight, taking out my earrings
Don't you know the vibe? Don't you know the feeling?
You should spend the night, catch me on your ceiling
That's your prize, that's your prize
Well
[Chorus]
Mm, bet you're thinking, "She's so cool"
Kicking back on your couch, making eyes from across the room
Wait, I think I've been there too, ooh
Ooh, you've got me thinking, "She's so cool"
But I know what I know and you're just another dude
Ooh, that's so true, ooh, ooh, oh
About the Song: That’s So True by Gracie Abrams
That’s So True is the first single released under Gracie Abrams’ second album, The Secret of Us Deluxe Edition. The release of this song was around the same time as the final dates of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour started. Abrams served as an opening act on these shows and she sang That’s So True.
Verse 1
The singer can’t stop thinking about her ex. She’s still thinking about the way he looks and that it still hurts her. However, she smiles through the pain because that’s how life is.
The phrase “Living in your glass house, I'm outside, uh” is a reference to the old saying “people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones” meaning that her ex is a hypocrite but she’s not.
Verse 2
This verse gives more of a “bitter ex” vibe. The singer is thinking about all the things the new girl is doing with her ex and how she already did it before. She’s conflicted about whether to like the new girl or not since her issue is with her ex, however, she’s still hurt so she’s taking it out on both of them.
Pre-Chorus
She finally accepted that her ex was bad news. She mentions that it wasn’t her business to tell the girl about her ex being a red flag, but she wants to warn her still.
Chorus
The ex is just repeating their history and how he was so impressed with the girl being nonchalant and how he thinks she’s so cool. He had already done all this with her and she realized that he was just another guy.
Bridge
The singer explains how hurt she was by her ex. How his leaving her made a big impact on her. She's still here living and surviving, but a big part of her died.
