Abracadabra Lyrics by Lady Gaga
[Intro]
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Abracadabra, abracadabra
[Verse 1]
Pay the toll to the angels
Drawin' circles in the clouds
Keep your mind on the distance
When the devil turns around
[Refrain]
Hold me in your heart tonight
In the magic of the dark moonlight
Save me from this empty fight
In the game of life
[Pre-Chorus]
Like a poem said by a lady in red
You hear the last few words of your life
With a haunting dance, now you're both in a trance
It's time to cast your spell on the night
[Chorus]
"Abracadabra, amor-oo-na-na
Abracadabra, morta-oo-ga-ga
Abracadabra, abra-oo-na-na"
In her tongue she said, "Death or love tonight"
[Post-Chorus]
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Feel the beat under your feet, the floor's on firе
Abracadabra, abracadabra
[Verse 2]
Choose the road on the wеst side
As the dust flies, watch it burn
Don't waste time on a feelin'
Use your passion, no return
[Refrain]
Hold me in your heart tonight
In the magic of the dark moonlight
Save me from this empty fight
In the game of life
[Pre-Chorus]
Like a poem said by a lady in red
You hear the last few words of your life
With a haunting dance, now you're both in a trance
It's time to cast your spell on the night
[Chorus]
"Abracadabra, amor-oo-na-na
Abracadabra, morta-oo-ga-ga
Abracadabra, abra-oo-na-na"
In her tongue she said, "Death or love tonight"
[Post-Chorus]
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Feel the beat under your feet, the floor's on fire
Abracadabra, abracadabra
[Bridge]
Phantom of the dance floor, come to me
Sing for me a sinful melody
Ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah
[Chorus]
"Abracadabra, amor-oo-na-na
Abracadabra, morta-oo-ga-ga
Abracadabra, abra-oo-na-na"
In her tongue she said, "Death or love tonight"
About the Song: Abracadabra by Lady Gaga
Abracadabra by Lady Gaga is her second single from her upcoming album, Mayhem, with the first being “Disease”.
With the dance-pop energy and visuals, Gaga served Abracadabra like her old music “Bad Romance”, “Alejandro”, “Applause”, and others. Mother monster ate and left no crumbs.
Gaga described the song as the challenges we face, especially from within, and how to overcome it. She centered on the question: what would it be like to more than just survive?
Intro, Chorus, and Post Chorus
The word “abracadabra” was used so many times in this song. The term has no clear origin. It possibly came from Hebrew meaning “I will create as I speak” or Aramaic meaning “I create like the world”. Today, abracadabra is commonly used as a magic word for tricks and shows.
In the song, Gaga probably used the term in the same context, as a magic word. She did say in an interview that this song has a spell in it and that if there is a lot of negative energy around you, it tends to affect your life, which is kind of magic.
The chorus and post-chorus mention “amor” and “morta”, which are Latin for “love” and “death” respectively.
Pre-Chorus
The lady in red is being mentioned with Lady Gaga dressed as one in the music video. According to an interview, the lady in red is just us and how our inner struggles keep us from enjoying the best of our lives.
The lady in red in the music video looked like a creepy devil, which is not unusual in Lady Gaga music videos. Gaga, although genius and entertaining, has always been associated with the illuminati for being unique and always pushing boundaries with her music (videos). So haters better just skip this bop of a song.
Refrain
Love is one of the most powerful things in the world that can save someone from the darkness or from being down. It is the closest thing we have to magic.
Verses
We are being told to follow the good path and choose a good life. Don't let the negativity be in the way of living our lives to the fullest.
“Choose the road on the west side” was mentioned. In the bible, the west side is land of the holy of the holies.
Bridge
This seems to be a nod to the Phantom of the Opera musical. Gaga is asking the phantom to teach her to be her old self again and bring back her old style for music.
Gaga, as we all know used to create songs that pushed the boundaries and her music videos were even more controversial, although her choreography was always giving. She wanted to overcome her fears and bring back her old music.
